KUCHING, June 1: Jogging and light exercise are now permitted in respective neighbourhood areas under current tighter Movement Control Order (MCO) which has been extended throughout Sarawak until June 14.

The restrictions have been reversed just days after Sarawak enforced the MCO standard operation procedures (SOP) which initially banned such activities to prevent gathering of large number of people in an area in order to curb spike of Covid-19 cases.

However, all sports and recreational activities are still not permitted except for jogging and light exercise carried out in respective neighbourhood areas as gyms, workout studios offering classes for yoga, zumba and related activities and swimming pools are to remain closed throughout the MCO period.

Sports and recreational activities in all public parks and recreational areas are not permitted.
Training, games, competitions and tournaments, be it in the indoor or outdoor, for individual and group sports are not allowed to be organised.

Organisation of tournaments and competitions both domestic and international are not permitted during this time.

Tourism activities are not allowed as all tourist attractions including zoo, farms, aquariums, edutaiment centres, recreational parks, extreme/adventure/nature parks, handicrafts centres, museums, libraries, art galleries, heritage and cultural centres, theme parks and family entertainment centres must remain closed.

In general, all activities that would involve movement and gathering of a group of people such as fun run, marathon, triathlon and others will not be allowed.— DayakDaily
