Jobless youth nabbed for suspected drug possession

MIRI, April 19: An unemployed man in his early 30s was arrested yesterday on suspicion of possessing methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), a form of synthetic drug, and Syabu.

Personnel from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department detained the suspect in a house at Lite Avenue Sze Chuan Road 2, off Airport Road, here, at about 6am.


The raiding team seized a packet of altered juice drink believed to contain MDMA and four packets of what is believed to be Syabu.

The MDMA weighed 47.56g with an estimated street value of RM380, while the syabu weighed 52.17g with a street value of about RM3,000.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said urine test conducted showed the suspect was positive for drugs.

The case is being probed under Section 39B, Section 39A(2) and Section15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
