KUCHING, March 29: An unemployed man from Sri Aman was today sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment and one stroke of the rotan when he pleaded guilty to stealing two mobile phones.
Magistrate Mohd Syukri Bin Mokhtar meted out the sentence after Su Chu Sheng, 45, pleaded guilty to stealing two OPPO phones belonging to a mobile communication shop in Jalan Padungan on March 8, 2019, at about 9pm.
Su was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 10 years and shall also be liable to fine. For a second or subsequent offence, shall be punished with imprisonment and liable to fine or whipping.
