KUCHING, April 14: The Sessions Court here has sentenced an unemployed man to seven years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the cane for stabbing an Indonesian man with a knife.
Norman Ali, 25, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 20 years and liable to a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd @ Mohd Yusoff convicted him as charged after he was found guilty of voluntarily causing hurt to a 22-year-old victim by using a knife at a house in Kampung Bintawa Ulu, at about 8am on April 4.
According to the brief facts of the case, the incident arose as the accused was unhappy that the victim went into his house to take a television set.
The accused admitted that he took a knife that was placed behind the door and stabbed the victim twice.
The accused was arrested by the police in Sibu on April 6.
The victim is being treated by the Cardiothoracic at Sarawak General Hospital.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Danial Mohamad Ali prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
