Jobless man fined RM2,000 for threatening to kill police and army personnel

KUCHING, Nov 25: The Magistrates Court here fined a jobless man RM2,000 for threatening to kill a police officer and an army personnel.

Norzahir Saufi, 46, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

Zaiton sentenced Norzahir to a fine of RM2,000 or in default to five months’ imprisonment.

The accused was charged with threatening to kill a police officer and a military officer at a pet shop along Jalan Semariang Batu, at about 6.06pm on May 17, 2020.

According to the brief facts of the case, the supervisor of the pet shop lodged a police report because the accused who was under the influence of alcohol was disrupting the operation of the shop.

When the supervisor, the police officer and the military officer who arrived at the shop tried to persuade the accused to leave the premises, the accused refused and threatened to kill the police and army personnel.

The accused was arrested on the same day.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
