Jobless man faces death sentence if convicted for drug trafficking

KUCHING, Nov 21: An unemployed man pleaded not to drug trafficking in the Kuching High Court today.

Judge Datuk Supang Lian ordered the deputy public prosecutor to serve documents within 30 days from today.

The justice also fixed February 4, 2020 for pre-trial case management and April 13 to 17 for trial.

Razif Hanif Abdul Rahim, 33, was charged with trafficking 395.9 grammes of cannabis at a house in Jalan Haji Kassan, at about 8.30pm on June 17, 2019.

He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under subsection 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries a death sentence upon conviction.
