KUCHING, March 11: The new Jalan Batu Kaya Cluster in Lubok Antu has reported 28 cases so far, with the case index being a 17-year-old student.
In a report today, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) disclosed that the cluster involved a student dormitory.
Investigations found that the cluster’s case index (Case 272,141) tested positive for Covid-19 through a self-test on March 8.
“The spread of the infection is believed to be due to close association and contact among students in the dormitory,” said SDMC.
To date, 79 individuals have been swabbed and 51 samples returned negative results.
SDMC gave assurance that all positive cases have been admitted to the school’s Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC).
Meanwhile, the DTI Semuja 3 Cluster involving the immigration detention depot in Serian grew with 48 cases today.
Adding to yesterday’s tally, the cluster now has at least 67 reported infections so far.
As of today, Sarawak has six active clusters. — DayakDaily
