Jepak Jaya to see rapid growth under second wave development agenda for Bintulu

KUCHING, Sept 2: Jepak, to be renamed Jepak Jaya, will see rapid growth including new residential areas, shopping and administrative complexes under the second wave development agenda for Bintulu.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg gave assurance that the construction of new infrastructure in the town will be carried out actively.

“Jepak, which will be named Jepak Jaya, will continue to be developed under the second wave development agenda for Bintulu,” he told a press conference after visiting the new SK Ulu Segan in Kemena, Bintulu here yesterday (Sept 1).

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Abang Johari said that the planning for Jepak Jaya was one of the matters discussed during the State Development Coordination Committee meeting which he chaired at a hotel in Bintulu earlier yesterday.

In addition, he revealed that the Sarawak government has also agreed to intensify works to improve water supply to longhouses and villages in Bintulu.

“Allocations will be distributed. However, the implementation will take time because it involves water sources as well as other necessities such as the laying of major pipes,” he explained.

Abang Johari also assured that Sebauh and Tatau districts will not be left behind in development as many projects have and will be implemented.

“From the reports received, the projects are running smoothly and will complement the development we are carrying out in the areas involved,” he said.

The meeting was held to discuss the status of various development projects implemented in Bintulu Division including those related to utilities, telecommunications and infrastructures.

Deputies Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, state cabinet ministers, State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and State Finance Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar were among those present. — DayakDaily
