JCI Sibu and SMC to host environmental themed flea market

SIBU, Feb 20: Junior Chamber International Sibu (JCI Sibu) and Sibu Municipal Council will jointly host a unique green environmental protection flea market.

It will take place at the parking lot behind Wisma Sanyan on March 21.

According to the flea market organising chairman Mike Yong the event is one of a series activities in conjunction with Sibu Love Earth Day 2020.

“The purpose of this event is to promote the 5R concept of refuse, reduce, reuse, repair and recycle,” he explained.

Goods to be sold at the market are items such as clothings, shoes, bags and books for the recycled product category, homemade products, food & beverage (but no on-site cooking), and plants.

The flea market, he said was specifically open to the Sibu residents, associations, clubs and societies based in Sibu.

Those who wish to participate in this flea market only need to download the entry form at https://forms.gle/DpqTCLrrtCPs8wbZ8 to apply. The registration is free of charge, but the applicants must meet the terms and conditions.

“Vendors must practice ‘No Plastic Bags’ and ‘No Plastic Straws’ rules during the event. This is to encourage them to provide recycle bag or recycle plastic container,’ he stated. —DayakDaily
