JBALB: Repair works underway to address water disruption in Sarikei

The burst connector pipe along Jalan Bulat Sarikei which caused water disruption in certain areas in Sarikei since yesterday.

KUCHING, May 6: The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Sarikei division assured that measures are being taken immediately to address water disruption that occurred in Sarikei district since Wednesday (May 5, 2021).

According to JBALB Sarikei in a press statement today, the delivery of water supply will also be conducted by JBALB Sarikei and the contractor until the situation is resolved.

“The Pan Borneo contractor will carry out the work to reconnect the pipe at an immediate rate today to reduce the impact of water supply disruptions to consumers in the affected areas,” it said.


On Wednesday (May 5, 2021), a water disruption occurred in certain areas in Sarikei which was caused by leakage in the connection pipe due to construction work along Jalan Bulat Sarikei.

JBALB Sarikei noted among the areas affected are Jalan KJD Meradong, Skim B, Pakan, along Jalan Bulat from Sg Rusa until Sg Joh, Kesa Baron, Kesa, Jalan Onn Dian, Sg. Garan, Jalan Friendship, Jalan Cola, and Pakan Junction.

“Five other areas namely Pekan Bintangor, Sg. Sian, Selidap, Bukit Papit and Lebaan area are expected to experience low water pressure,” the statement read.
