KUCHING, Sept 18: The annual Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival (KWJF) this year will be moved indoors in view of the haze situation.
The event happening next weekend (Sept 27-28), which was scheduled to be held outdoors at the Kuching Waterfront, will be moved to MBKS Community Hall.
“The move is made to the air-conditioned MBKS Community Hall at Jalan Padungan to give our festival-goers and performers better comfort in light of worsening haze conditions in Kuching,” Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) deputy general manager and director of Tourism and Hospitality, Edwin Abit, said in a statement.
KWJF 2019, organised by SEDC, is expected to draw crowds from Indonesia, Singapore, The Philippines, Brunei, Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia and Australia.
The third KWJF this year will see local Sarawak talents performing alongside an eclectic line-up of musicians and performers from around the region such as Ning Baizura (Malaysia), Harvey Malaihollo (Indonesia), Sitti Navarro (Philippines), Dave Brewer & The DooDaddies (Australia), Dawn Wong & The Shanghai Jazz Club (Singapore), Ushera (Malaysia), Saxx in the City (Indonesia), Xanaduduo (UK/Sarawak), Q Sound (US/Malaysia), Nisa Addina (Sarawak) and KWJF Jazz Band Search winner, local band The Fingerprints.
Festival tickets can be purchased at the Grand Margherita Hotel, online at www.kuchingwaterfrontjazz.com or walk-in during the festival at MBKS Hall.
