Japan’s security giant CSP plans first international data, AI center in Sarawak

KUCHING, Dec 19: A leading Japanese security and IT services company, Central Security Patrols Co Ltd (CSP), has expressed its intention to establish a data and artificial intelligence (AI) center in Sarawak.

According to a news report by TVS, this will be CSP’s first data center project outside of Japan.

The proposal was presented during a meeting with Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday (Dec 18).

“We welcome CSP’s investment, as data centers and AI are key sectors promoted under the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (Mintred), expressed his enthusiasm for the proposed project, noting its potential to align with several key developments in Sarawak, including smart cities, autonomous rapid transit (ART) systems, and security.

“The government is committed to supporting the company with feasibility studies for the project in Sarawak,” he assured.

Additionally, CSP expressed interest in collaborating with local academics and the private sector in Sarawak as part of their investment strategy.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister of International Trade and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Mintred advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, and Mintred Permanent Secretary Dzulkornain Masron.

Representing CSP were director, president, and chief executive officer (CEO) Totaro Ichikawa, Senior Management director and executive officer Masaaki Kokubo, and other distinguished guests.

Founded in 1966, CSP has expanded from traditional security services to include data center management and IT infrastructure solutions. — DayakDaily
