KUCHING, Sept 27: The RM1 million road upgrading works at Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow is expected to complete by mid-November this year.
Democratic Action Party (DAP) Pending assemblywoman, Violet Yong, in a statement today, revealed that it is one of the four on going federal government’s road upgrading projects in the city.
“The Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government, through the Works Ministry, has allocated a total of RM5 million this year for the upgrading projects of four federal roads in the capital city, which are now in progress, she said.
These road upgrading projects include Jalan Tun Razak (RM2 million), Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha (RM1 million), section of Jalan Tun Razak, which is in front of Rajah Court Hotel (RM1 million) and Jalan Tun Jugah (RM1 million).
Yong recently attended a briefing on the details and progress on the four upgrading projects by the project supervising agency, state Public Works Department (JKR).
She also requested JKR Sarawak to closely monitor the work and ensure the contractor to give their commitment by expediting the progress of the repair works and increase their manpower so that the road repair can be completed within the shortest time possible.
“Since the commencement of the road repair works, I have received countless complaints from public using Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow that the slowness of the repair works has further aggravated the heavy traffic jam, especially during the peak working hours,” Yong alleged.
