KUCHING, Jan 8: The Jalan Stapang Road in Sibu that had been cut off by a landslide occurring this morning has been cleared and is safe for road users.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation center in a statement today, they received the report regarding the incident at 11.46 am today, and a team of firefighters from Selangau fire station led by PBT II Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahim were deployed to the location.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the landslide occurred on a hill slope and has obstructed traffic flow. Firefighters, with the assistance of the nearby plantation workers, used bulldozers to clear the soil in the area to enable road users to pass through safely,” it said.
The statement noted the operation ended at 1.20 pm, and firefighters return to their station after ensuring that the situation is safe and under control. – DayakDaily.
