KUCHING, Oct 31: Jalan Lidong, which connects Batang Lupar 2 Bridge in Sri Aman town to the Betong Interchange on the Pan Borneo Highway, was opened to traffic today.

According to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), this completes the road connection from Batang Lupar 2 Bridge to the Betong Interchange, providing a more continuous route between Sri Aman and the Pan Borneo Highway.

The project involved constructing a two-lane, single-carriageway paved road and upgrading the existing road from JKR R3 to JKR R5 standards, covering a total length of approximately 27.84 kilometres. The project scope also included constructing two bridges.

The upgraded route shortens travel distances between Sri Aman and Betong while providing a better road surface for motorists’ comfort. It also improves accessibility for residents along Lidong Road, including longhouse communities and villages.

The improved connectivity is expected to facilitate residents’ mobility while supporting economic activities and income-generating opportunities for local communities.
