KUCHING, Feb 18: Thirty-three children from the Welfare Department’s Children’s Home at 12KM Kuching-Serian Road were treated to a Chinese New Year (CNY) party at All Joy Good Food Centre (All Joy) at Wisma Saberkas today.

The event, which was graced by Minister of Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, was also to celebrate All Joy’s 35th anniversary.

Fatimah said the government was thankful to All Joy for their kindness towards less fortunate people.

“We appreciate this kind of activity for our children, who are from the home of our Welfare Department here,” she said before distributing CNY goodies to the children.

“Every show of love from members of society, especially from corporate bodies, is very much appreciated. This is a subject that we really treasure, especially when children from our welfare homes are given love and care.”

Fatimah lamented that the children staying at the Home had a history of being neglected by their parents, some were abused and others could not be looked after by their parents for various reasons.

At the party, everyone present was entertained by a lion dance troupe.

Also present were All Joy proprietress Rachel Chan and the home’s principal Mohamad Iskandar Mohammed Tudin. — DayakDaily
