Ismail Sabri, Fadillah Yusof heads list of 846 Sarawak award recipients

KUCHING, Oct 8: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Dato Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki will head the list of 846 recipients of awards and medals in conjunction with the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s 86th birthday in an investiture ceremony to be held at a hotel in Miri today.

Ismail Sabri will be conferred the Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP) which carries the title Datuk Patinggi.


Notable figures Abang Iskandar and Abu Bakar will receive the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA), which carries the title Datuk Amar.

Five individuals to receive the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Dato Sri, are Federal Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Army Chief General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd Zain, Sarawak Business Federation president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Abang Openg, former Igan MP Datuk Abdul Wahab Dolah, and businessman Datuk Wong Kie Yik.

Seven individuals to be conferred the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title Datuk, are Deputy Education and Innovation Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee, Deputy Natural Resources and Urban Development Minister Datu Len Talif Salleh, Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Dato Gerawat Gala, Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Deputy Intergrity and Ombudsman Minister Dato Murshid Juanda Jaya, Sarawak Islamic Council president Datu Misnu Taha and Petronas president and group chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz.

Deputy State Attorney-General Saferi Ali, Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts permanent secretary Hii Chang Kii and Sarawak Rropical Peat Research Institute (Tropi) director Dr Lulie Melling Joshua Melling are among the 10 civil servants to be awarded the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title Datu.

The seven other civil servants are Sarawak Premier Office Administrative Unit director Nicholas Sia, Samarahan Division Resident Brahim Lumpu, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation general manager Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir, Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit director Azlan Ali Badri, senior state counsel John Wayne Chamberlin Sirau, Land Custody and Development Authority general manager Monaliza Zaidel and Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin from Pejabat Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri.

A posthumous Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Dato, will be awarded to the late Penghulu Imban Medan, an Iban headman and warrior from Ulu Oya who was killed during the communist insurgency.

There are also 18 individuals to receive the PSBS award including Baram MP Anyi Ngau, Dr Alwi Abdul Wahab, Madehi Kolek, Su’ut Suhaili, Khaider Ahmad Zaidel, Andy Chia Chu Fatt, Daniel Jubang Kanyan, Nunong Dandan, Ivan Tan Book Kiat, Dr Jeniri Amir, Sim Kheng Boon, Sapuan @ Sapuan Ahmad, Geng Heyok Chiang @ Heng Hock Cheng, Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng, Fabian Wong Boon Soon, Georgina Apphia Ngau, Amir Abdillah Shabarruddin and Alhazmi Saeed Nowifeas.

Meanwhile, four individuals to be awarded the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) are Jasni Jubli, Law Siew Hie, Dr Alan Fong Yean Yip, and Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi.

Five civil servant are to receive the prestigious Johan Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (JPC). They are Adana Jed, Toieyah Tioh, Abdul Wahab Rahim, Sutekno Ahmad Belon and Prof Dr Wan Hashin Wan Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, 22 individuals would be awarded the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cermerlang (PPC), 28 individuals – Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS), 67 individuals – Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK), 122 individuals – Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB), 126 individuals – Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), 95 individuals – Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK), , 184 individuals – Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) and 149 individuals – Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS). ā€” DayakDaily
