Islamic forum held in conjunction with Eastern Field Command’s 5th anniversary

KUCHING, July 19: In conjunction with the First Infantry Division Headquarters’ Eastern Field Command’s 5th anniversary, the army base together with the Sarawak Islamic Council jointly organised the Perdana Ehwal Islam Forum on Thursday (July 18).

The forum was graced by Head of State Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg together with Eastern Field Command commander Lt-Gen Datuk Wira Zamrose Mohd Zain.

Titled “Angkatan Tentera Malaysia: Syukur Dalam Reda”, the forum presented a three-member panel comprising Kor Agama Angkatan Tentera director-general Major General Dato’ Kamaruddin Mamat, Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin and senior Fiqh (religious) lecturer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Contemporary Fiqh Centre Prof Dato Dr Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim.

The forum was broadcasted live on RTM’s TV1 in front of a live 2,500-strong audience from the First Infantry Division Headquarters near Muara Tuang here, with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd as the main sponsor.

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Mohamad Redza Shah Abdul Wahid and First Division commander Major General Dato Md Din Abu were also present to witness the forum. — DayakDaily
