KUCHING, June 27: A two-day international workshop on haze and biomass burning in Asia will be held at Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (Tropi) at Kota Samarahan from July 9 to 10.

Themed “International Workshop on Haze and Biomass Burning in Asia – A system Perspective to Reveal Opportunities with Benefits from Long-term Transformations”, the workshop is jointly hosted by International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Academy of Science Malaysia (ASM) and Tropi and fully supported by the Sarawak Government.

The prominent workshop aims to bring together scientists from different disciplines and countries, policy makers, practitioners and industry leaders to develop a joint, solution-oriented, international and interdisciplinary research agenda on biomass burning in Asia.

Featuring recent research activities and policy developments, the workshop will specifically review the manifold aspects to reduce adverse impacts of biomass burning while contributing to the development targets. — DayakDaily
