KUCHING, July 27: Inter-district travel in Sarawak will be limited and require police approval, starting August 1 until 14, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

According to Ismail Sabri, the Sarawak government is taking a stern and proactive approach to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state, especially in Kuching.

“As such, the federal government today, has approved the request from the Sarawak government to limit inter-district travel, between zones and also districts from August 1 until 14, 2020.

“This involve two zones, namely Zone 1 (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan) which is the red and yellow zones, and also Zone 2 (Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Kapit, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang), which are the green zones,” he said during a press conference to give daily Covid-19 updates (non-health) in Putrajaya, today.

Ismail Sabri also noted that any individuals who wish to travel in between zones must obtain permission from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

“Intra-zone travel such as from Samarahan to Kuching is still allowed. But if they are going outside of the zone, which is from the green zone to red zone, then there is a need for police approval,” he explained. — DayakDaily
