The search for the missing man underway

MIRI, Oct 30: A foreign worker is believed to have been killed by a crocodile while crossing a river to go to a supermarket on Oct 27.

Based on the police report lodged by 24-year old Badriansyah, he and his fellow countryman Muhammad Syopyan Nasution quietly sneaked out from their workplace in Kuala Baram Industrial Estate at about 9pm that night.

They allegedly crossed a river through some pipelines heading towards a supermarket in Tudan.

While crossing the pipeline, a crocodile appeared and attacked Muhammad Syopyan.

Failing to locate the victim on their own, Muhammad Syopyan’s friends finally lodged a missing person report earlier today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said they were alerted to the incident at 3.10pm.

A team of 11 firefighters from Lopeng station was dispatched to the scene.

They began the search and rescue (SAR) operations by scouring the water surface on a boat near where the victim was last seen. –
