KUCHING, Oct 27: An Indonesian man was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here today for assaulting a 79-year-old elderly woman in a house in Kampung Tabuan last Thursday (Oct 19).
Bian Adrianus Subianto, 26, from Kalbar, Kalimantan Barat, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which was read before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.
According to the charge, he committed the offense in a house in Kampung Tabuan at around 5pm on Oct 19.
If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine, caning, or any combination thereof.
According to the facts of the case, during the incident, the victim’s granddaughter (complainant) was told by her female friend who was delivering food to them that she had seen Bian in the living room of the house, pinning down and touching the elderly woman’s entire body while she was on the bed.
The complainant then immediately went to the police station to make a report for further action and investigation, leading to the accused’s arrest.
The investigation revealed that the accused had committed a criminal assault with the intent to molest the victim.
The prosecution was handled by Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff, while the accused was not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
