Individuals out in public places after curfew contribute to most number of 39 compounds

KUCHING, June 5: Seventeen people were slapped with compounds for being in public places beyond permitted hours during the Movement Control Order (MCO) which contributed to the most number of compounds issued by the police today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the police had issued a total of 39 compounds in Kuching (12), Bintulu (6), Miri (6), Sibu (6), Julau (3), Kapit (2), Serian (1), Betong (1), Mukah (1) and Lawas (1) for various standard operating procedures (SOPs) violation.

“While 17 people were compounded for violating the curfew, 10 others were due to carrying passengers exceeding the permitted limit.

“This is followed by individuals not scanning MySejahtera QR code and operating non-essential premises (9), not wearing face mask (1), making inter-district travel without permit (1) and cutting the quarantine wristband without the Health Ministry (MOH)’s permission (1).

“This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 7,192 so far,ā€ the Commitee said.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) issued 23 compounds under the supervision of Serian District Council (12), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (3), Miri City Council (3), Padawan Municipal Council (1), Bintulu Development Authority (1), Sibu Rural District Council (1), Meradong and Julau District Council (1) and Limbang District Council (1) for violating the SOPs.

The violations are namely not updating or incomplete customers’ logbook (7), not wearing face masks (6), operating without permission during MCO (6), not scanning MySejahtera QR code (1), dysfunctional thermometer (1), making inter-district travel without permit (1) and premises operator failed to ensure SOP compliance by the customers (1).
