SIBU, Feb 23: Indah zone reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases with 11 cases out of the 41 new daily infections detected under Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) jurisdiction yesterday (Feb 22).
Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapaee, in his daily statistics update on the Covid-19 situation in Sibu, informed that of the 11 cases, six were reported in Lorong Teku 19K2A while Jalan Indah Utara (4) and Lorong Pakis 4 (1).
With 31 zones and sub-zones under SMC, Permai came second in topping the list of daily Covid-19 infections with eight cases detected at Sibu Hospital (5), Lorong Permai 9D2 (2) and Pasar Tamu Permai (1).
Sentosa and Diong Kik zones each registered five cases while Tiong Hua zone (4 cases) and Delta (3 cases).
Other areas recording one case each were Upper Lanang under Sukun/Lada zone, Lorong Merlor (Damai zone), Lorong Kiew Nang 2 (Farley zone), Lorong Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce 52D3 (Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce zone) and Lorong Ulu Sg Merah (Ulu Sg Merah A zone).
With additional 41 cases, Dr Annuar, who is also Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SIBU DDMC) chairman, said that this brought the cumulative number of positive cases under SMC jurisdiction to 1,189 as of Feb 22.
Looking at the breakdown of cases, Tiong Hua and Sentosa were labelled as Covid-19 red zone with total confirmed cases of 154 and 90 respectively.
There were six zones under orange status which recorded below 40 cases namely Sukun/Lada, Tong Sang, Kampung Dato, Permai, Ulu Sg Merah A and Indah.
The remaining 26 zones which were under yellow status with below 20 cases were Mantis, Poh Yew, Bukit Lima, Pusat Bandar, Tun Abang Hj Openg, Awg Ramli Amit, Delta, Sg Antu, Damai, Rejang Park, Wong King Huo, Diong Kik, Pedada, Kwong Ann, Ding Lik Kong, Bahagia Jaya, Farley, Pulau Li Hua, Tunku Abd Rahman, Jeriah, Teku, Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Apollo, Deshon, Ulu Sg Merah B, and Aup. — DayakDaily
