KUCHING, Dec 5: The inaugural Sarawak International Art Camp (SIAC) 2022 saw participation from 26 local and international artists.

The five-day event will be held from Dec 5 to 9 with participants from Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, and Sabah, including Sibu, Sarikei, and Kuching.

They will camp for two days at Annah Rais Longhouse from Dec 6 until 8 to immerse themselves in Sarawak’s local community, culture, and nature as they get inspiration to paint throughout the art camp, including ‘art jamming’ with the local community.

Their creations will later be exhibited at the Sarawak Arts Society’s (SAS) Annual Art Show alongside other SAS members’ artwork on Dec 9 until Jan 8, 2023, at La Promenade Mall.

SIAC 2022 will also provide the opportunity for local Sarawakian artists to engage with international artists for exposure, artistic exchanges, and building connections.

The SIAC 2022 welcoming dinner, held at a local hotel tonight, was also graced by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Snowdan Lawan. — DayakDaily
