Immigration Dept confirms Najib, Rosmah barred from leaving country

KUCHING, May 12: The Malaysian Immigration Department has blacklisted and barred Datuk Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor from leaving the country.

A notice on the blacklist was posted on the Immigration Department’s Facebook page stating, ‘Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia ingin mengesahkan bahawa Datuk Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak dan Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor baru sahaja disenarai hitamkan dari keluar negara’ (Malaysian Immigration Department wishes to confirm that Datuk Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor has just been blacklisted from leaving the country).

Last night, various news media reported former prime minister Najib and his wife Rosmah were suppose to fly to Jakarta today on a family vacation.


Meanwhile, Najib on his Twitter account under the name ‘Mohd Najib Tun Razak’ said he been informed that the Malaysian Immigration Department has prohibited him and his family from traveling abroad.

He said he respected the order and will remain in the country with his family.

Meanwhile, according to a Malay Mail report, an angry mob some 100 people strong were waiting outside Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, where Najib and Rosmah were scheduled to depart from to Jakarta this morning.

The crowd surrounded passing cars, blocking passage and demanded to see the occupants in all cars with heavily-tinted windows.

The light strike force unit from Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), were deployed to control the situation.
