Illegal removal of traffic equipment along Pan Borneo may have disastrous consequences

KUCHING, June 14: The Works Department of Sarawak (JKR Sarawak) Pan Borneo Highway Unit hopes there will be no more incidents involving the removal of traffic equipment such as road barriers along the highway, as such actions bring about serious consequences.

“We hope that there will be no more incidents of disrupting or removing traffic equipment on Sarawak’s Pan Borneo Highway after this because such actions may invite disaster to road users,” said the unit in a statement published on its social media page today.

Meanwhile, the unit is also announcing that the installation of a plastic road barrier along the Selangau section of the Pan Borneo Highway (WPC08) to prevent illegal and dangerous turns into the opposite lanes has been completed.

“It can be seen in the video that there are attempts by several vehicles to commit traffic offences (by taking an illegal turn into the opposite lanes) but failed due to the addition of the barrier,” said the unit. — DayakDaily
