Illegal oil palm worker arrested in Mukah, air rifle seized

MUKAH, March 9: An Indonesian man has been arrested for entering the state illegally and smuggling in an air rifle yesterday.

Mukah district police chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal said the 35-year-old man was arrested during a crime prevention operation at 6pm at a plantation workers’ quarters along Jalan Selangau-Mukah.

The suspect is from Loko Ry, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia.


“The police team discovered an air rifle, a bottle of spirit, and 20 marbles from the workers’ quarters. The suspect admitted he had bought the items from a countryman for RM50,” he added.

Muhamad said the suspect had entered the state illegally in 2019 through Tebedu. He then found an odd job in an oil palm plantation.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 (a) of Weapon Act 1960 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. — DayakDaily
