KUCHING, March 5: Igai Ikit, the father of Senator Datuk Paul Igai, passed away today at the age of 90.

The late Igai Ikit was a Lay Deacon of the Methodist Church of Kapit. He was one of the first few graduates from Batu Lintang Teachers Training College and had worked as a lab technician at the then-Kapit Christ Hospital.

He was married to the late Barbara Bawang Temenggong Sibat, who passed away 10 years ago, and was one of the first Iban senior midwives in Sarawak.

“My father was a very humble, understanding, and considerate man. He was never one to harbour grudges against anybody in his lifetime.

“I believe he has a holy soul,” Paul told DayakDaily today.

Igai is survived by three children and 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral wake will be held tomorrow (March 6) evening at 1335H, Lorong 12, Jalan Bayor Bukit, Tabuan Jaya.

A prayer service will be held at the residence in the early morning of Monday (March 7) before the cortege leaves at 8am to his final resting place at the Nirvana Memorial Park in Bau.— DayakDaily
