KUCHING, March 9: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Datuk Idris Buang opines that Sarawakians MPs who have been appointed as ministers and deputy ministers in the federal cabinet will be the ‘front strikers’ to fight for Sarawaks’ rights and interests.

He believed it is high time that Sarawakians MPs whether those from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) or Perikatan Nasional (PN) fight for the common goals of Sarawakians.

He hoped that Sarawakian MPs who have been appointed as ministers or deputy ministers will work together for the benefit and welfare of Sarawakians.

“Our GPS and its ministers, though not part of the PN, would also serve to be the first-line advocates of Sarawak’s rights and interests in the formulation of national policies .

“They too would be our ‘front strikers’ to generally score vital points for Sarawak in getting optimum benefits for the Sarawak people while defending at all costs established multicultural values and harmony.

“For example, they would be the first to reject any attempt to introduce anything that is repugnant or certain to disrupt our cultural, political and social stability in Sarawak such as the Hudud law,” Idris asserted in a statement.

Meanwhile, Idris welcomed the federal cabinet line-up as announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as well-balanced.

He noted that the line-up consisted of professionals and experienced politicians.

For non-GPS Sarawakian MPs such as Ali Biju and Willie Mongin, he believed GPS could work with them over the common ground of ‘Sarawak First’.

Idris believed the concept of cooperation in the federal government under the PN + GPS formula as propounded by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and GPS leaders should give Sarawak a meaningful place in all aspects of the nation’s development and progress.

Thus, he believed that Sarawak and its people will gain from the latest cabinet line up.

“Today is indeed a good day for us. Congrats to those who have been chosen in the cabinet.

“Now is the time for us to move on and put your best to serve the state and nation in accordance with the trust reposed upon all of you,” he added. — DayakDaily
