Covid-19 update: Health DG confirms two in critical condition

KUCHING, March 9: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed two individuals are in critical condition with positive Covid-19.

Its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement disclosed: “The two are now relying on breathing ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor and Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor.”

The second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak also saw an increase in the number of positive cases with 18 new patients detected as of noon yesterday, bringing the total number of cases to 117 in Malaysia.


MOH is still investigating and conducting contact tracing.

Meanwhile, MOH is also collaborating with the private sector to conduct Covid-19 in-house sampling services.

“Patients with no symptoms can undergo Covid-19 tests at home without having to attend at any health facility,” the statement revealed.

MoH also advised everyone to maintain high levels of hygiene such as washing their hands with soap or using hand sanitisers, delaying out-of-state travel to regions or cities declared with Covid-19 outbreaks in the Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran. — DayakDaily
