Iconic Bintangor Red Bridge is now illuminated with vibrant LED lighting

KUCHING, Oct 26: The iconic 20-year-old Red Bridge in Bintangor is now illuminated with vibrant LED lighting.

The Red Bridge was lit up in conjunction with the opening of ‘Pesta Bintangor 2022’, the town’s annual signature festival, formerly known as ‘Pesta Limau Bintangor’, which will be held from Oct 22 to 30.

According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Sarawak government approved RM100,000 to fund the installation of colourful LED lights at the Red Bridge on Saturday (Oct 22) through an application by the Public Works Department (JKR) of Sarikei Division.

Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing thanked Sarikei JKR, as well as the Maradong and Julau District Council (MDMJ), for their efforts in installing the lights in conjunction with the opening of ‘Pesta Bintangor 2022’.

Ding also urged all Meradong District residents to enjoy the bridge’s beauty and, most importantly, to care for the lights, which are expected to attract more visitors to Bintangor Town in conjunction with the ‘Pesta Bintangor 2022’.

Also present were Meradong District officer Badjuri Bidin, political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Teng Ung Woo, Sarikei Division Resident representative Mohamad Firdaus Habari, MDMJ secretary Wan Mohammad Wan Badhi, Sarikei JKR civil engineer Bahari Bahar, and local community leaders and village chiefs. — DayakDaily
