According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the ceremony, held in conjunction with Sarawak Day celebrations, was officiated by Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

The event was organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development.

The ceremony began with an inspection of the DBKU Local Guard of Honour, followed by the singing of the State anthem “Ibu Pertiwiku”, prayers, and the raising of the Ibu Pertiwi flag.

The celebration was made more vibrant by performances from the SMK Green Road Marching Band and Colour Guard, as well as a special rendition of “Pertiwiku Tercinta” by Ermie Sanisha and Azam Pitt.

DBKU said the monthly ceremony aims to strengthen the people’s love for Sarawak, promote unity, and instil pride in the State’s symbols.

Since its introduction in July 2024, the ceremony has also grown into one of Kuching’s attractions and a platform to highlight the Ibu Pertiwi flag as a symbol of Sarawak’s identity, heritage, and sovereignty.

Held on the first Sunday of every month, the ceremony is open to the public as part of efforts to nurture patriotism and strengthen the Sarawak identity among the people.

Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development, DBKU, and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and DBKU Mayor Dato Hilmy Othman. — DayakDaily
