Ibrahim Baki: Satok constituency prepared for floods

KUCHING, Jan 8: Satok state constituency is ready this time should a big flood occur, says Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki.

Ibrahim, who is also deputy chairman of Satok branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) said there are five critical areas in Satok constituency, namely Maong, Segedup, Kudei Lama, Kudei Dayak and Kudei Ulu.

“Apart from that, other areas in the constituency are also provided with similar equipment, and we also have booked at least two fishing boats for each targeted area, including gazetting locations as temporary evacuation centres (PPS).


“Of course, we also provide medical aid, just in case, and will be working together with the Marine Department, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), and volunteers,” he told reporters after launching the Special Committee for Flood Disaster in held at Kampung Kudei Lama multi purpose hall, here today.

Ibrahim noted that the committee are provided new boats that can accommodate eight people, compared to the older boats which can only carry only three to four person.

Apart from that, he said the boats are equipped with life jackets, hailers, boat engines, torchlights, as well as foods and drinks.

“At the moment, we have five big boats, one each for the critical areas, while for the additional boats, they will be put on standby, and depending on the situation, some areas will get two boats,” he added. — DayakDaily
