KUCHING, Jan 17: Undeterred by being labeled a ‘failure’, Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil vows to work harder in serving his constituents, while emphasizing that no seat, including DUN N76 Marudi, should ever be taken for granted.
“On my part and despite of being rated failure by a survey recently conducted by a professor, I will continue to do my level best.
“We will not be perturbed or distracted by his rating. In fact, it will motivate me to work harder to serve my constituents, who would be in the best position to assess whether or not I have done justice to the votes they have casted.
“But one thing for sure, I would not be too arrogant to say that DUN N76 Marudi is a safe deposit for GPS,” he said in his welcome speech during the official opening of the Marudi Bridge today.
Meanwhile, Penguang, who is also Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and
Local Government (Local Government), said he has submitted a list of new projects for the area for the government’s consideration.
“Most of them are to provide basic facilities such as upgrading dirt roads to paved roads for rural residents in the Beluru and Tinjar areas who are still far behind in the current of development.
“This is all to ensure that the community here can also enjoy progress, generate the local economy, and live a more comfortable life,” he said.
He also shared that several other projects such as a new road connecting Marudi with Miri and Mulu, as well as dirt road upgrading projects in the Tinjar area, and others are currently in various stages of progress.
He expressed his appreciation for approved allocations for the implementation of these infrastructure and utility projects in the Baram area.
In addition, he revealed that the government has also approved projects such as the Marudi Waterfront extension, a Hotel in Marudi, the Tinjar Community Hall, and the Beluru District Office building.
On the opening of the Marudi Bridge, Penguang highlighted that the bridge would improve the accessibility for residents in the Marudi and Mulu area.
He also hoped that the Marudi Bridge would open up more economic opportunities for rural communities that have long been marginalised.
The opening of Marudi Bridge was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Also present during the event was Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah. – DayakDaily
