KUCHING, July 15: i-Supervision 2.0, a construction monitoring platform developed by the Public Works Department (JKR), was launched at the 2025 Senior Officers Conference (SOC) for JKR Malaysia in Terengganu on July 14, 2025.

In a Facebook post, Federal Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the digital transformation initiative is in line with JKR’s efforts to improve the efficiency of public infrastructure maintenance service delivery.

He said the system allows road maintenance works to be monitored in real time, complete with:

  • Before and after work photos
  • Work location via GPS
  • Contractor performance is digitally assessed
  • Mobile access by JKR officers

“All of this is aimed at ensuring that every sen is spent more transparently, and every work is monitored more efficiently for the sake of safer and better-quality roads for the people,” said Nanta, who officiated at the conference.

The conference gathered over 400 JKR senior officers nationwide, including district engineers and the department’s top management.

The annual conference serves as a platform to strengthen the direction of the country’s infrastructure development in a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive manner, as well as being a field for strategic thinking and human capital empowerment, in line with digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and the adaptation of technologies such as building information modelling (BIM) and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with the internet of things (IoT) in public construction projects. — DayakDaily
