The statement was made by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah during a stop at Bungai Bekenu Beach yesterday (Sept 10) in conjunction with the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ royal tour, Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) reported.
His sincere words were greeted with lively cheers from the people of Miri who flocked to Bungai Bekenu Beach to meet the Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah as well as their children Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah.
The royal family’s arrival was welcomed by Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing; Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Malaysian Deputy Health Minister, Lukanisman Awang Sauni at 12.10pm yesterday.
Also present were Sarawak’s Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dr Ripin Lamat; Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus; Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee; and Miri Resident Jamalie Busri.
During their stop, the King and Queen signed the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ plaque and took a photo together to mark the memorable royal tour.
The royal couple departed for Bintulu at 1.26pm to continue the tour. — DayakDaily
