KUCHING, June 13: i-CATS University College (i-CATS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Foshan Feichi Motor Technology Co Ltd yesterday (June 12) to collaborate on hydrogen and related technologies training and education, automotive industry consultations in Sarawak, research innovation, and cultural exchange.
According to a press release, i-CATS’ acting vice chancellor, Prof Dato Dr Shazali Abu Mansor, signed the MoU on behalf of the institution, while Foshan Feichi was represented by its general manager, Jiang Yong.
The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Xing Weiping, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching; Sarawak Skills and PPKS Ilmu Sdn Bhd executive director Hallman Sabri; i-CATS management registrar Mohd Melintang Abdullah; and academics and delegates from Foshan Feichi.
“The collaboration between i-CATS dates back to early this year. From April 22 to May 6, 2024, i-CATS vice chancellor Professor Dr Shahren Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce and other academics from i-CATS and Sarawak Skills Management visited Foshan Polytechnic in Foshan, China.
“Feichi Technology and Foshan Polytechnic organised the training, providing participants with first-hand experience and a deeper understanding of the design and development process of hydrogen-powered vehicle components. It also included visits to illustrious institutions and businesses,” the release stated.
It went on to say that i-CATS is excited about the MoU’s potential benefits and how it will strengthen both institutions.
“i-CATS firmly believe that by working together, we can promote a cooperative and mutually beneficial environment in the fields of academia and research,” it added. — DayakDaily
