KUCHING, Aug 29: A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly punching his wife after being admonished for drug abuse.
Padawan District Police Chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspect was arrested yesterday (Aug 28) after a police report was lodged by his wife.
The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday (Aug 27) when the suspect brought his friend to their rented house in Matang Jaya here at around 1pm.
“The wife is said to have yelled at the suspect causing the suspect’s friend to go home.
“Following this, the suspect became angry and started to act aggressively by punching his wife’s head several times with his hand,” he said in a statement today.
The victim then fled into a room to avoid being beaten by the suspect.
The victim suffered pain and bruising on the left side of the head and bleeding in the left eye.
She then lodged a police report before seeking treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Abang Zainal further said the suspect is now being detained at Beratok Police Station for further investigation.
The case is classified under Section 323 of Penal Code or Section 18A of Domestic Violence Act 1994. — DayakDaily
