A human skeleton discovered on December 12 last year in a bush area near Batu 7, Jalan Miri-Bintulu, has been identified, Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirms.
The skeletal remains were sent to Miri Hospital’s morgue for examination, where bone samples were collected. Blood samples from the next of kin were also taken to facilitate DNA comparison. Both sets of samples were then sent to the Kuching Chemistry Department for analysis.
DNA test results confirmed the remains belong to Musah Mantali, who had been reported missing under police report LTBG MIRI/002912/24. The DNA analysis showed a 99.9 per cent match with the blood sample from the deceased’s son, Ismail Musah.
The next of kin have been informed of the findings and have requested the remains for burial.
ACP Alexson has urged anyone with further information about the discovery to come forward. Members of the public, family members, or anyone with relevant knowledge are encouraged to visit the nearest police station or contact the Miri District Police at 085-433730. –DayakDaily
