KUCHING, Nov 3: Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) presented Huawei MediaPads to 77 B40 pupils and students from four secondary schools and 10 primary schools from the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.

Caretaker Senior Minister of Works who is also the Petra Jaya incumbent Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof handed over the tablets to the pupils and students during the SMA Career Talk held at CIDB Convention Centre here today.

The tablets were donated by Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) to the Sarawak government through SMA in collaboration with the State Education Office as the supervisor of the distribution of the donation to students in need.

Fadillah in his speech said there is a need for students in Sarawak to be exposed to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to ensure that they can become skilled workers one day.

“Elementary school and secondary school are the basis for sharpening the talents of the younger generation towards STEM,” he said.

Meanwhile, SMA general manager Dr Zaidi Razak said education and human resource development is one of the seven enablers outlined Sarawak Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).

“PCDS 2030 is an effort by the State leadership that has worked hard in planning the best strategy for young people in Sarawak.

“We are not only focused on the development of the young generation, but all the people of Sarawak also need to know and be aware of the policies that have been planned by our leadership,” he added. — DayakDaily
