House in Jalan Foochow catches fire, no casualties

KUCHING, Oct 18: A single storey house in Jalan Foochow here that is used as a store caught fire last night.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre said they received an emergency call regarding the incident from the Malaysia Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999 at 10.13 pm.

“Firefighters managed to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to the nearby structure. The house, which is unoccupied and used as a store for used items, was 30 per cent destroyed in the incident,” it said in a statement today.


The statement added no casualties were reported and the operation ended at 11.50 pm.

It was also noted that Operation Commander PKPgB Thomas Umpang Julong, together with a team of 14 firefighters from Bomba Padungan led by PBK II Fauzi Alwi was deployed to the location, supported by eight firefighters from Bomba Tabuan Jaya led by PBK II Anuar Mentali. –DayakDaily.
