SIBU, May 3: An wooden house in Jalan Sentosa was razed to the ground in a fire last night.

Netizens on social media alleged that lightning during heavy rain had caused the fire, though when contacted, Zone 4 Bomba chief Andy Alie said they were still investigating how the fire had started.

He said a family of five people were rendered homeless due to the blaze.

“We received a distress call at 8.08pm. Two teams of firefighters from Central and Sungai Merah stations were immediately deployed to the scene,” he said.

Andy added that the fire was already at its height when firefighters arrived at the scene seven minutes later after they received the call.

“We have to create a fire break to prevent the fire from spreading to the next house which is occupied by four people,” he said.
