KUCHING, Jan 14: A horrific accident involving three vehicles and two motorcycles occurred along Stutong Road heading towards Airport Road, leaving several victims scattered along the roadside.
One car had its roof completely torn off, while another was severely wrecked and ended up in the nearby bushes.
As of press time, four people—one woman and three men—have been confirmed dead, while two others, a woman and a man, are critically injured. Three male passengers escaped with minor injuries.
Earlier, traffic in the area was heavily congested. Emergency services, including the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and police, were on-site managing the situation.
According to Bomba Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang, which responded to the emergency at about 1pm today, the accident involved two Proton Sagas, one Toyota Altis and two motorcycles.
The four deceased were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and their remains were handed over to the police for further action.
The injured victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic conditions returned to normal around 3.30pm with tow truck services working to clear the wreckage and firefighters still conducting flushing to clear the debris to ensure the area’s safety. — DayakDaily
