Home Minister: New Ba’Kelalan Immigration Complex to be completed in July 2024 with new contractor

KUCHING, Feb 16: The construction of the new Ba’Kelalan Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex is expected to be completed in July 2024.

According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail pointed out that a new contractor has been appointed after the main contractor was removed from the project.

He explained that the main contractor was terminated on Dec 3, 2020 for failing to complete the project within the stipulated period with only 43 per cent project progress.

Saifuddin said this when answering a question from Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday (Feb 15).

He added the project was approved under the 10th Malaysia Plan, Rolling Plan 4, in 2015 with a current project cost of RM21,636,261. — DayakDaily
