AsiaFlux is a regional research network bringing together scientists and researchers from universities and institutions in Asia to study the exchanges of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and energy between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere across daily to inter-annual time scales.

From there, scientific data is generated, which will then be analysed, and used to develop a science-based land-use policy to support land-use management and biomass production in mitigating climate change, human life and sustainable development in Asia.

The guest speakers to be featured at the 2022 Conference from the United States include Benjamin Bond of Lamberty Pacific Northwest National laboratory, Paul Stoy of University of Wisconsin-Madison and Trevor Keenan of University of California, Berkeley.

Others speakers include Alexander Knohl of University of Gottingen Germany, Fredolin Tanggang of the National University of Malaysia, Jin Wu of University of Hong Kong, Joon Kim of Seoul National University South Korea, Lisa Wingate of French National Institute for Agriculture Research France, Nobuko Saigusa of National Institute of Environmental Studies Japan, Ryusuke Hatano and Takashi Hirano of Hokkaido University Japan as well as Sara Knox of University of British Columbia Canada.

With the date set for 2022, it is calling for delegates and participants from around the world including Malaysia and Sarawak to register and be part of the Conference.

Participants are encouraged to register early to enjoy an early bird discount. See below for more details on registration fees.

Organisers are also calling for abstract submissions and scholarship applications. Below are the important dates to facilitate the submission process and subsequent follow-up process.

Note also the tentative programme of activities of the AsiaFlux 2022 scheduled from Sept 18 to 24.

Initially planned in 2020, the Conference was supposed to bring together some 500 scientists and researchers from around the world in the fields of atmospheric peat science, environment, hydrologists, biochemistry, soil science and meteorologists to Kuching.

In addition, AsiaFlux is affiliated to the global Fluxnet network of micrometeorological tower sites of which there are more than 500 operating around the world.

The main aim of this Conference is to act as a platform to create awareness to the government, the industries, and the people, especially potential young scientists from South East Asia such as Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, on the importance of GHG Cycling in guiding sustainable land use policies in the region.— DayakDaily
