KUCHING, March 11: A total of six families from Kampung Quop and Kampung Siderud under house quarantine received a contribution from Habitat for Indigenous and Urban Programme (Hidup) after having difficulties in obtaining daily supply.
Hidup president George Young Si Ricord Jr, in a press statement today, said the affected families consist of daily wage earners and construction workers with school-going children under house quarantined for the next 14-days.
“ For these family finances suffer when they are being home quarantined as most of the heads of the household are simple wage earners. So, we do what we can to help these vulnerable individuals and families,” he said.
George noted the affected families daily routine has abruptly been halted which caused panic and confusion after they were declared to be under house quarantined.
He said most of them have been seeking assistance from the neighbours and friends for their daily food supply.
“Following the outcry, Hidup has responded and dispatched a team of volunteers to deliver basic food necessity,” he added.
Meanwhile, George also called for more public donors to reach out to the other families in need during the pandemic outbreak.
He highlighted that Hidup has initiated a donation drive to raise funds and also provide essential food items for the young children in view that some of these households are with young children and infants.
“Our aim is to shed light on the conditions faced by these low-income households and how they are coping with the situation. To donate, call 0111 8580528,” he said. –DayakDaily.
