KUCHING, Nov 8: SJK Chung Hua Serian is taking a significant step towards preparing students for the future with the opening of a new four-storey academic block housing 12 classrooms, a mini sports track, a Confucius Garden, and a Liu Tzu Memorial Park, in a RM3 million project designed to enhance both learning and student development.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the new academic block replaces the 1973 structure and is fitted with modern digital infrastructure in line with the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030.

“Comfortable classrooms and well-equipped facilities create an environment where young minds can thrive and prepare to contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s economy,” he said in a speech delivered by the Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The Confucius Garden underscores the school’s commitment to values-based learning, while the Liu Tzu Memorial Park commemorates a local philanthropist whose donation of the school site has ensured the institution’s sustainability and legacy.

He further emphasised that the combination of modern classrooms and sports facilities promotes focus, teamwork, discipline, and resilience, which are key attributes for holistic student development.

SJK Chung Hua Serian, founded in 1931, has transformed from a modest single-building school into a comprehensive institution with three blocks, a hall, sports facilities, and gardens, highlighting decades of community dedication to nurturing capable and well-prepared students.
