SIBU, Aug 26: RM1.284 million of the Heritage, Arts and Culture Facilitation Fund has been approved from 22 applications for the first eight months of this year, says Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
According to Snowdan, who is Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, four applications came from Sibu and one from Sarikei.
“We have yet to receive applications from Song, Kanowit, and Kapit. Hence, we encourage industry players to apply for this aid,” he said during a town hall session organised by the ministry today.
Speaking on the fund, he said it is meant for programmes and activities that contribute to the development of Sarawak’s arts, crafts, and heritage.
On the town hall, Snowdan said that it is the fourth series organised by MCTP.
The first series was held in Kota Samarahan on February 25, followed by Miri on March 18, and Bintulu on August 12.
“Through this town hall session, we hope to get input or comments on how we can develop and bring Sarawak’s creative industry to a higher level,” he said.
Among those present were ministry permanent secretary Datuk Sherrina Hussaini, Sarikei Resident Michael Ronnie Langgong, and Sarawak Arts Council chief executive officer Dayang Mariana Abang Bolhassan. — DayakDaily
