Heavy rainfall causes Baleh River to overflow, five longhouses affected

KUCHING, 14 Sept: The continuous heavy rain which has fallen upon Sarawak for the past week has caused Sungai Baleh, Kapit to overflow, flooding a number of longhouses.

According to a report from the Civil Defence Force (APM), five longhouses comprising Rh Rentap Ng Entawau, Rh John Anak Katil, Rh James Ng Sempili, Rh Panyau Ng Kemali, and Rh Unggam Ng Entawau had been affected.

A total of 47 households was affected by the floods, with water levels ranging from 0.5-5 feet high. No evacuations have been made yet.

As of press time, flood water levels in the area are reported to be receding. — DayakDaily
